They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them. Proverbs 28:4
Dr. Erwin Lutzer has served as Senior Pastor of Chicago’s Moody Church since 1980. His three radio programs are broadcast across America and around the world. Author of 30 books, Lutzer documents shocking parallels between pre-WWII German society and America today in his When a Nation Forgets God:
The experience of Nazi Germany reminds us that whoever controls a nation’s laws also controls a nation’s agenda and its values. R. J. Rushdoony has observed that behind every system of law there is a god: “If the source of law is the individual, then the individual is the god of that system … if source of law is our court then the court is our god. If there is no higher law beyond man, then man is his own god … When you choose your authority, you choose your god, and when you look for your law, there is your god.” Look behind the law and there is your god! With Hitler’s power to make laws, he could mock his powerless opposition. Without a law in their favor, opponents had no defense against the accusations made against them. Pastors, for example, could be tried for “hate crimes” such as “abuse of pulpit” or “treason” and if accused they had no recourse but to accept their fate. They could easily be presented with false evidence that would accuse them of theft or sexual malpractices. That’s why Hitler could belittle the pastors and say with contempt, “You can do anything you want with them… They will submit … they are insignificant little people, submissive as dogs, and they sweat with embarrassment when you talk to them.” He knew that he could crush their resistance because the law was on his side! He who creates the laws, wins… The moral landscape of a country is strongly influenced by its laws. When Hitler made the laws, Germany was molded into his own image… After Hitler was defeated, war crime trials were held in Nuremberg… But a dispute arose as to what laws should be used to try the accused... Hitler’s cronies argued, quite plausibly, that they had not broken any laws; their actions were… within the protection of their own legal system. They could not be accused of murder because personhood had been redefined to exclude Jews and other undesirables. These men were simply following the laws handed down by the courts of their day... By what laws then, should the Nazis be tried? … At Nuremberg, Robert H. Jackson, chief counsel of the United States, argued that there was “a law about the law” that stood in judgment of all men in all countries and societies (Pastor Erwin Lutzer: When a Nation Forgets God: 7 Lessons We Must Learn From Nazi Germany, Moody, 2009).
In 1945, the vast majority of Americans believed that there is a higher law, that the Declaration’s reference to our “Creator” and “Supreme Judge of all the World” are fact, and that we are “One nation under God.”
America’s pastors and churches must lead the way, now!
Houston; California; Washington State; Washington, DC – I Stand Sunday honored the pastors who are standing against an immoral ordinance pushed by the mayor and a pro-homosexual city council – one that authorized sexually confused men and women the right to use public bathrooms designated for the opposite sex. (This is happening across America – read the story in the 11/7; 10/30; 10/24Prayer Targets). Led by their pastors, Houston citizens presented the city a petition signed by 50,000+ voters, which is essentially three times what was needed for a voter referendum. The City Secretary certified that threshold was met. But the Mayor and the City Attorney stepped in unilaterally to declare the petition effort invalid. And there was much more. Tony Perkins has long warned that religious liberty and the special homosexual rights agenda cannot coexist. When asked about the conflict between sexual expression and religious liberty,Chai Feldblum, President Obama’s activist appointee to the EEOC Commission, admitted to “having a hard time coming up with any case in which religious liberty should win."Liberal pro-homosexual public officials are putting her theory to the test via aggressive anti-discrimination laws forcing businesses, organizations and individuals to violate their deeply held religious convictions to kowtow to the homosexual agenda. People are being required to celebrate same-sex “marriages” – provide photography services, bake wedding cakes, make floral arrangements, rent church facilities, etc., under threat of fines, jail time, “rehabilitation training,” closure of businesses, lawsuits and bankruptcy (SOGI Laws; Elections; Help Illegal; Washington State AG).
Pray that pastors and believers across America will be filled with the Holy Spirit, courage and wisdom to stand amid the wholesale assault on religious liberty taking place in our land! (Dt 4:4-9; 31:6; Josh 1:7-18;1 Kings 2:2;Neh 4:14; Pr 28:4; Jn 10:10-17; Eph 6:13-14; 1 Th 1:5)
HHS Mandate IS NOT DEAD - The Obama administration, with its HHS mandate, would have happily bankrupted Hobby Lobby and every other religious employer across America who refused to yield their faith and conscience to provide their employees “health” insurance that covers free contraceptives and abortion causing drugs. To drub them into submission, the HHS decreed fines for small businesses with over 50 employees of $100 per employee per day for each day they failed to be in compliance with the mandate. Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood sued, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in their favor, but other non-profit religious groups are still subject to the “mandate.” Little Sisters of the Poor received an injunction from the U.S. Supreme Court, but was sent back to the lower courts for more hearings. The 10th Circuit Court will hear them on December 8th (Hobby Lobby; Little Sisters; Not Good Enough).
California Abortion Mandate – California churches have been notified by letter that all employers, including churches, must provide their workers insurance that covers elective surgical abortion. Pastor Jack Hibbs, Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel, Chino Hills, six other Christian leaders and the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) have filed an official complaint with the HHS’ Office for Civil Rights. A member of FRC’s Pastor’s Council, Hibbs has said he will go to jail before paying for abortion. This is the kind of stand every American should take. The church in America, lukewarm and indifferent, has allowed the legalized slaughter of over 57 million innocent babies in the womb. Will we now pay for the killing? NEVER! Christians must pray for and stand with those under fire. We must make our voices heard by those in power, using our vote and every other legal means. If we are required to fund abortion, celebrate homosexual behavior, foster or commit any other sin against God, we must stand, whatever the cost! We must wake up, and call upon God urgently to help us be His salt and light, before we find ourselves, God’s people. in “the land of the free and the home of the brave,” “trodden under the feet of men” (Mt 5:13-16) (see Official Complaint: Jail if Necessary; Listen to Tony & Jack Hibbs; Obamacare Abortion).
May Pastor Jack Hibbs and those standing with him prevail to overturn California’s evil abortion mandate! Jesus, we plead your blood over our sins and the sins of our nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America! (Pr 12:3-4; Jon 3:5-7; 4:11; Rom 1:16-32; Rev 3:16)
Finally, Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem (New Intifada). General Boykin and former terrorist Kamal Saleem have released a novel about the future of Islam in the West – it will motivate much prayer. The Supreme Court could end Obamacare, if we pray. One of the Obamacare architects has acknowledged that lies were intentionally used to pass law. The State Department continues to push the homosexual agenda abroad, while minority religious groups, especially Christians who are being slaughtered, are being totally ignored. FRC Team Thank you for praying!
